How to finish the quilt? I found as new way to face Art Quilts and decided to try it out. I traditionally use grossgrain and while it makes a beautiful finish this method is much more simple. First picture is a corner piece covered with two 2 1/2" fold strips not full length. The second picture is with the facing and corners turned out to the back and ready for hand stitching. The corners make a place to put a hanging rod for your quilt.
I got the requirments on Monday 4th March New Zealand time. What a challenge Abecede ..... Full explanation was to use words, text etc in a quilt. I decided to try and use orphan blocks this time round. Duly selected some Christmas blocks and after consideration the work Gifting came to me. I gessoed a strip of pieced fabrics which would come to the measurements of the four blocks I had selected. I choose some green and red felt to make the letters, By the time I hadcut out the green letters I realised that red felt overlays would be incredibly thin. Next idea was to stitch gold beads on with red thread. This took an incredibly long timeasthe felt had a mind of it own. This accomplished I quilted the blockand attached the letters. |
